Tenor and Soprano saxophone
At the age of ten, my mother encouraged me to play an instrument. I picked up the sax because of the sound and shape of it. It was pure magic. I started practicing for 4-6 hours a day. My sister was a singer. Which was also an influence on me. A drummer named Bill Pittman brought me over to the Cotton Club to audition for Paul Knaules the Owner of the Cotton Club, and at the time he hired Me to play on weekends. I was Seventeen. There is a very important event that happened in the winter of 1972. I was working with a band called Everything Is Everything and the leader, Chris Hills hired me to play on his record, So I went to New York, and during those three weeks, I met Wayne Shorter, saw and met McCoy Tyner at Slugs, went to The Village Vanguard and saw Thad Jones and Mel Lewis big band perform. This trip had a big effect on me, so I went back home and started practicing developing my tone and my improvisation.

My biggest influence would be John Coltrane. Although Sonny Rollins is high up on the list. I have had the pleasure of playing with several different artists such as:
Freddie Cole, Roy Hardgrove, Wycliffe Gordon, Grover Washington jr., Woody Shaw, Sean jones, Victor Goines, And Jeff Lorber - keyboardist, Just to name a few.

My biggest accomplishment was being an original member of the group Pleasure on Fantasy records. With Pleasure, I established myself as a mainstream and jazz funk artist.

My CD “RIO” is a modern jazz record with funk overtones. My CD “ON THE PATH” is straight ahead jazz with McCoy Tyner overtones.
